good one. it reminds me of an equivalent question about the nature of the universe. Considering the overwhelmingly humongous amount of energy that is constantly stored and freed from even a tiny volume of vacuum, how is it even possible for anything to aggregate in isolates spatially distinct, and remain a whole for so long, notwithstanding changes and evolution, like a star? Why is there something rather than nothing? But an advanced understanding of these things might only show that these things remained unchanged only because of our limited perception of space-time.

Ritual fasting, menstruation & the thin line between spiritual rituals and superstition in religious tradition

There is good and bad in about every single (religious) tradition. As an agnostic and an amateur of sociological reflexions, I feel that religion has brought people together beyond the range of caring for one self, for one's family or one's people: however religion, through its highest authorities' need to keep things under control, obviously carries a certain number of misconceptions of the nature of things, ranging from politics to the inner workings of what some will call "soul"; this, in our modern times, might be harmful to the real purpose of one's own faith, if not a source of danger to its practitioners.

This article has been inspired by a conversation on the subject of Ramadan, and thus this is the example I take so, please, let it be known that I hold no grudge or anything of the sort against Islam or Muslims. It is not my intention to offend anyone, but only to offer my opinion on these subjects.

Art, what the fuck is it???

ART

What is it? What isn't it? That subject as been debated forever but the following is merely my own take, as opposed (but not really) to my girlfriend's opinion that absolutely everything is art, including things like EQUATIONS.

Think rationally (a response to @meekROARINGlion)

This is a response to @meekROARINGlion's own wordpress article on the subject of rationalism.

This is the real rationale behind rationalism today and I will attempt to prove it... with the power of rational arguments!

Love is the Higgs boson of relationships

what is Love?

They say love is a lot of thing, while I tend to say It's a lot of thing that it doesn't necessarily has to be.
You can love foods, games and movies, but when I speak of LOVE, in bold and caps and everything, you know I mean that longing to an emotional place that no word will ever describe but that, surely, everyone gets to know, experience or believe in at some point...

What's in love? What's its recipe? It wasn't always what most people agree on today, that common cocktail of trust, complicity, sexual attraction and arguments - or maybe, or rather, the ingredients varies in proportions through time and space.
In quantum physics they collide particles to try and find the presence of a discrete, either non-existing or very hard to find 'binding particle' called the Higgs boson.
Well, defining love is exactly like that : trying to collide (emotional) particles to find the Higgs boson of human interactions: I can look for a concrete, tangible trace of its reality, but if I'm trying to dissect reality and isolate the particle itself, I'm only going to find more speculation, and possibly destroy or squander what little I (thought I) had.

Radiohead wants the Moon?

These are some of my thoughts I had when people started trying to trend the #IMSMENOO hashtag on Twitter, a continuation of Josh and Vitor's thoughts on The King of Limbs album, among other things.

It has since been said that IMSMENOO/ERSMENOO is a code word describing someone (possibly Chieftan Mews or/and Stanley Donwood) and "his daffy lover". The word is now out that there will not be a follow-up to The King of Limbs, but I'll still leave this here. Qu'est-ce que l'oligarchie ?

D'après l'article Wikipedia sur ce sujet, ce mot est tiré du grec "ὀλίγος" (olígos), "peu/quelques-un" et du verbe "ἄρχω" (archo), "commander/diriger".
Il s'agit d'un régime gouverné par une ou plusieurs personnes, ou plutôt d'une ou plusieurs classes dirigeantes, dont je vais tâcher de résumer et de moderniser le contenu.

Quand Ardisson décriait le "consensus mou" face à Nabe

Ce week-end, j'ai découvert le professeur Choron (via l'an 01, sur Google Vidéo (ça date des année 70 et c'est très mal encodé, alors attention). On aimera ou pas.
Du coup, en regardant Choron Dernière de Pierre Carles, j'ai aussi découvert Marc-Edouard Nabe.
